Soy Wax Candles

All our candles are handmade in small batches from our homes in Dorset featuring luxury fragrances and wood wicks.

CARE GUIDE FOR WOOD WICK CANDLES

Our candles are fragranced to the highest percentage right through the candle ensuring the scent in your candle will last until the final burn. We only use 100% soy wax or a natural blend of coconut and rapeseed oil for a cleaner burn and all our products are handmade and hand poured in small batches in our own homes using luxury scents. A candle made from soy wax or natural wax such as coconut and rapeseed oil burns cleaner with little soot released as the candle burns. Soy candles also typically last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size. We only use wooden wicks simply because we like the look and the sound! Also known as crackling candles, the natural wick option adds to the ambiance of burning scented candles especially as the wood wicks mimic the sound of a crackling fire as they burn.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

Whilst it may seem self explanatory on how to use or light a candle we’d like you to get the best from your candle so following these tips and care guide should ensure this.

When lighting your candle make sure you have plenty of time! If your candle is continuously lit for short periods at a time this may create what’s known as ‘tunnelling’ where a wall of wax to remains un-melted at the sides of the container.  To avoid tunnelling make sure that the burn pool (the liquid wax on burning) reaches the sides of the candle container when you first light, this may take up to one hour.  And never burn a candle for more than 4 hours.

Lighting the wick all the way across, not just on one end also helps the candle to burn evenly.

Always trim the wick before lighting to approximately 1/2cm. This keeps the flame at a safe height and allows optimum performance. We usually simply ‘snap” the burnt wood off although you can use scissors or special wick trimmers.

The burn time for our 220cl candles is approximately 30 hours but this will vary greatly to the scent of your candle.

Never burn your candle right to the end, this is dangerous.  Once your candle is 5mm from the bottom it is officially finished and time to replace.  The beauty of our waxes is that they clean up easily with warm soapy water so you can also reuse the container if you wish.

Candles can become very hot and may mark your furniture so it’s a good idea to place candles on a protective, heat resistant base.

Keep candles out of sunlight and away from flammable materials.

Never leave your candle unattended, and do not move when lit.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Never go to sleep while your candle is burning!
